Paraclimbing Sponsorships

We offer three levels of sponsorship for competitive adaptive climbers around the country. Depending on individual needs, we can provide assistance with gear costs, training, competition registrations, and more.

Frequently asked questions

How do I sign up?

Individuals interested in joining the ACG Athlete Team must first submit an application here. Based on need, an ACG Athlete may receive gear, coaching support, or financial assistance. Athletes are required to wear the team shirt at competitions and participate in one fundraiser per year.

Please fill out the contact form on our About page to get in touch!

Am I an adaptive climber?

Adaptive Climbers (globally recognized by International Federation of Sport Climbing as Paraclimbers) who compete are recognized by USA Climbing and the International Federation of Sport Climbing in 4 major categories:

  • Amputation/Limb Difference: Limb difference is not amputation and refers to those who have a congenital abnormality of a limb from birth.
  • Neurological: Brain damage or permanent neuromuscular conditions. Examples include Parkinson’s, Cerebral Palsy, Multiple Sclerosis, and Traumatic Brain Injury.
  • Spinal Cord Injury: Permanent damage to the Spinal Cord between Cervix and Lumbar segments. Examples include wheelchair users.
  • Visual Impairment: Blind or severe impairment that is not helped with glasses.

How are competitive athletes supported?

ACG athletes are supported with the help of the Brooklyn Boulders Foundation, partner facilities, brand sponsors, and donations. We help these athletes achieve their goals with free training, waived competition registrations, travel/lodging, and climbing gear (dependent on sponsorship level).

Do I need to live in New York, Massachussetts, or Chicago to become an athlete?

Not at all! Our regular programming is currently limited to a few regions, but we will gladly support those looking to compete from all around the United States.

What competitions does ACG participate in?

There are two sanctioned competitions each year: ABS Nationals (Bouldering) and US Adaptive Nationals (harnessed climbing). Awards are granted to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers within each paraclimber category. Strong performance at the US Adaptive Nationals can qualify you for the US team that competes internationally at the World Cup!
